Drawings of the Back of Your Head?

March 30, 2009 – 2:53 am

This week’s WAHM Talk Radio features a panel of seasoned work at home moms talking about the nearly impossible effort to be balanced in our work and family life.

I have to be honest, ‘balance’ is not a word that I like to bandy about.  I don’t believe most work at home moms are really interested in balance.  Rather, It think they want what they want and they’ll do whatever it takes to go for it, balance be damned.

I know this isn’t true all the way across the board - some moms are very careful about not overdoing things but some don’t have many options.  They are desperate to earn an income to keep up with the mortgage.  It’s hard to decide what gets the higher priority when you’re in fear of losing your home.

One of my panel guests made a reference to their child making drawings of them, only the picture was of the back of their head!  (A common sight for our kids when we’re working on the computer.)  Have any of your kids ever drawn a picture of you that way?

Do your kids hear more ‘just a minute honey’ than ‘lets play a game’ from you?  If yes, I hope you’ll listen in this week - you’ll realize you’re not alone.
