Mom, Are You A Twitter Quiter?
May 5, 2009 – 11:58 amI learned this week that an astounding 60% of new Twitter users end up quitting within a month. Quitting is a strong word, since they seemingly just fade away rather than out and out delete their Twitter profile.
I have spoken with quite a few moms over the nearly two years that I’ve been Tweeting who have admitted to ‘not getting’ Twitter. They joined, followed me or some other friend and waited for the magic to happen - and of course it didn’t just happen, so they drifted away.
Many die hard Twitter users tell similar stories of joining, losing interest but then coming back and finally understanding how to get involved.
When I found Twitter I fell in love and have never been silent for more than a day since. Still, I can understand that it’s overwhelming and hard to get at first. Twitter was a very different community in the summer of 2007. Smaller, quieter, easier to make a dent in.
Today, with all of the celebrities and hashtag events, a newcomer can feel like a very small ant at a party for elephants.
Don’t give up Mom :) Twitter can be a wonderful source of friendship and profit for your work at home business if approached well and consistently.

I think many people do give up on twitter because they do not realize the power of Twitter or do not understand how to benefit from using twitter. Over the last year I have met some great folks on Twitter and several business partners.

I used to love Twitter, but haven’t been on for quite a while. There are tons of these scripts that automatically add followers, and I’m now inadvertently following hundreds of people I didn’t choose to follow. So the tweets of people I’m interested in are lost in the clutter.

I gave up on Twitter too. I’m still trying to figure out the ins and outs.
