Finding a WAH Job — Where Do I Start?

May 13, 2009 – 7:34 am

One of the most frequent emails I receive from new members of the WAHM.com forum is:  “I’m new here and I want to work from home.  Where do I start?”  WAHM.com is a huge site with tons of information that can be overwhelming to new members.  Depending on how much information a member shares with me, I offer one of two suggestions on where to start at WAHM.com.

Telecommuting Moms

My first suggestion is to always start in our Telecommuting Moms forum.  It is one of our busiest forums and with good reason.  There are so many wonderful women and men who participate in that forum on a daily basis, taking time out of their day to “pay it forward” by providing job leads, answering questions, and offering advice.  The Telecommuting Moms forum is truly one of WAHM.com’s most valuable resources for anyone in need of a work-at-home job.

Evaluate Your Skills

If a new member provides me with a little background information within their email, I will tell them to evaluate their skills and go from there.  Do you have a background in customer service, data entry or sales?  Then maybe a job with many of the companies listed in our WAHM Service Businesses section may be a match.  There are many companies listed within the WAHM Service Businesses section that hire or contract with members from WAHM.com.  Within the company specific folders, you will find out what the job entails, how to apply, and qualifications and requirements those companies are seeking in candidates.

Did you find your first work-at-home job via a job lead from here at WAHM.com?  Leave us a comment and tell us about it!
