Do You Work Well In The Heat?
June 26, 2009 – 7:39 pmWell, it’s summer and the temperatures are high. After sweltering in my apartment for a couple of days I couldn’t run fast enough to buy a new room air conditioner. I just don’t work well in the heat.
Eighteen years ago I was doing Home Interiors. I remember the first time I arrived to a party and discovered that the hostess didn’t have an air conditioner or central air. She lived in an upstairs apartment and owned one single fan - which of course we aimed at her guests. I had to lug my case and bags up the stairs and get set up - all the while wearing pantyhose.
I was determined to maintain a good attitude and not make my hostess feel bad, but on the inside, I was miserable! I was never so glad to leave a party.
How do hot summer temps affect you and your business?

I am not the biggest fan of the heat, but I don’t have to worry much about it since I do all of my work from home online and over the phone. No parties or delivering product in my business. So if I am miserably it is my own fault
Stay Cool!

I just find that I don’t like to go out to pass out flyers… or I find myself running into the cool buildings from the car to quickly leave flyers or sizzle cards, then frantically running back out to the car to go to the next place where I do it all over again.
I also find myself feeling a bit more sluggish in the summer heat. I don’t want to do anything at all, except bask in the cool breeze of the air conditioner while filling out prospect postcards.

For me, it means moving to a room where there is the AC. I feel guilty leaving it running so much but its HOT! I wish I could type in my comfortable room but its hot in there so I stick to where the AC is.

I work in a studio located on the top floor of my house. It is sooooo hot in the summer, but I try to resist the urge to drop the thermostat below 76! You know the saying “blood, sweat and tears”? I at least put the sweat part into my business.
