Rekindling Friendships
July 21, 2010 – 5:48 pmBlogging from vacation with some of our oldest and dearest friends. For the first time we decided to hook up with friends on vacation and can’t say enough about the wonderful memories we are making. Usually we travel to the Vineyard as a family, but this year with the kids getting older, we decided to see if another family wanted to join us.
Actually, the family we’ve met on the island is my son’s oldest friend. They met over a squeaky cheeseburger in preschool and were attached at the hip for years. Both boys reminded us about how they both wanted to play with a squeaky cheeseburger toy and bonded immediately. I didn’t even know about the alleged toy, so the story was extremely amusing, especially now that they are both 13 years-old.
About five years ago they decided to leave South Florida and move to Virginia, which broke our hearts but they are seemingly happy in their new surroundings. This year we asked them to join us on our yearly trip to Martha’s Vineyard; the place where my husband and I met. They rented a house next door and it’s like time stood still.
Days at the beach and evenings at the house having drinks and grilling on the beach…I never want to leave. It’s amazing to have friends who perhaps you don’t see everyday, but can pick up right where you left off….
